About Us

A message from our founder:

“I am Deanna Maerz, the founder of Animal Angel Rescue Foundation – AARF Rescue.
Ever since I can remember, I have had a strong bond with all animals. Whether it was a bird that had fallen from its nest, a stray kitten, or a lost dog, I was drawn to reach out and help them. Knowing I could make a difference by saving that one life made me only want to help more. I saw the enormous need for dogs sitting in pound facilities where they were not given the opportunity for a second chance, and thus AARF Rescue was founded.
The joy it has brought me to save animals’ lives and be able to match them with the most amazing families is so fulfilling.
I know that I will rescue dogs until the day I die, as it is in my heart to do so.”

Animal Angel Rescue Foundation is a no kill rescue.

AARF exists to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, abused and unwanted cats and dogs. AARF was established in 1998. We work with local and rural animal control facilities and humane societies where we rescue pets that would otherwise be euthanized.

AARF uses a hands-on approach to train and rehabilitate dogs so that they may become family pets. Our program proves that the rate of successful placements is far higher if the dog is healthy, socialized, well trained and re-homed in an environment suited to his or her personality. AARF ensures that all animals that come into the rescue are fully vetted. Each and every one is vet checked, treated for worms and fleas, spayed/neutered, heartworm checked and microchipped. We also provide additional care to many of the pets we rescue. Most senior dogs we rescue need extensive dental surgeries, and we have also treated a number of dogs that were heartworm positive.

AARF is strictly a not-for-profit rescue; we receive no funds from any agency, corporation or government. AARF relies solely on the kindness and generosity of the public and community.

AARF Is also a proud member of the
Helping Homeless Pets” Organization!
